As of writing, 8.9 million people have already watched Nicole’s controversial viral video Dear Fat People.
Dear Fat People essentially launched Nicole’s career. She got international media coverage, film offers, a ton of television and advertising offers – and will even be dropping a new pop single next year.
However, she recently opened up about the real story behind the video.
Nicole Arbour Reveals the Video Was Part of a Master Plan
She admitted to Cosmopolitan that her video had “a marketing plan” behind it. She said that she wanted to post continuously escalating controversial videos in order to grab the spotlight. Katie Hopkins, anyone?
She bragged that she made “tens of thousands of dollars” just from that one video. “It changed my life, financially.”
She initially posted Dear Instagram Models. They followed that up with Why You REALLY Got Divorced. In late August, she added Why Girls R Crazy to the mix. Finally, she saved her grand finale, Dear Fat People, for early September.
She said she wanted to draw eyeballs to her channel in order to get new fans for her other comedy work.
She defended Dear Fat People once again. “It isn’t mean. It’s a true message. I get a lot of letters from [fat] people saying I was right!”
